Hacksaw Ridge Review (non spoiler)

In my opinion, everyone must see this movie!!

This story about Desmond Doss is amazing and beautifully told through this movie. The movie takes you through Desmond’s journey of accepting his faith and then following his faith even through the horrendous, disgusting hell of WWII. If you’ve seen any of the trailers then you know that Desmond did not join the war to take lives. He joined to save as many lives as he can.Andrew Garfield does an extraordinary job with this role! He makes you forget that he’s Andrew Garfield. You truly believe him when he’s speaking about his morals and faith.Mel Gibson did a tremendous job directing and filming this movie in just 59 days. He said in an interview that this movie was in development hell for 14 years. There was a part of the story that Mel Gibson said he had to keep out because Doss was so incredible that some of the things he did would seem too unbelievable.

The part of the story that got kept out was that Doss got wounded in the Okinawa Campaign. He was wounded in the leg by a grenade and had to wait almost 5 hours for a stretcher to get to him. While on the stretcher they were attacked again and Doss crawled off the stretcher to help another soldier that was worse off than him and made them take him to safety, then come back for him.

We need more people that are completely selfless and want to help the way Doss was. Everyone should go see this movie! I would rate this movie a 9.5 out of 10! It was amazing!
